Retainer basis
A fixed, ongoing monthly fee agreed in advance. This is generally most suitable for large, medium or fast growing, ambitious companies which want a continually high media profile to stay ahead of the competition and drive trade interest and consumer demand.
Project basis
A fixed fee for a one-off activity or short campaign which has been allocated a certain budget. Smaller companies are likely to choose this way of working to alert the press to activity such as a new product launch, the opening of a new pub or restaurant, revamped packaging, a new and important recruit or a new business deal.
